Welcome to the Gimel Bureau of Investigation (G.B.I.) general assignment page!
In general, G.B.I. Agents investigate subjects with excellent research and communication skills. By this, we seek to build our knowledge of G'd's world and how we can best live in it and grow. We seek to serve others.
In research, we need to know what information is valid and reliable. Each source may have a bias and unique viewpoint. Primary sources are first desirable. After collecting observations and information, then organization of them is necessary for deeper, meaningful learning, and to prepare ourselves for presentation.
To communicate effectively, we need to have a plan and be mentally prepared. It does help to have practiced.
The (Kitah) Gimel Agents seek to be active learners and communicators.

G.B.I. Current Assignments:
For January and February, 2012, here are some of our current field assignments (projects):
1) Science Fair experiment > DUE February 1st in the classroom for presentation to the class. > Feb. 2nd for set-up in the oolam and presentation to the judges, then 6 p.m. for open public display for family and friends (then they can go home afterwards).
NOTE: Field Supervisors (aka Parents), please help your agent (child) split the work into weekly goals so they can be more successful.
One suggestion of a schedule is: week 1- do the experiment and record observations, week 2- analyze the data and make a chart or graph, and week 3- create the presentation board.
Here is a two-page instruction sheet on how to construct a presentation board. (click on the words for the .pdf, then you can print it)
Thank you for your help!

2) Asia Trip > Please also see the other webpages on this website.
Permission Slips (click on the words; also on the blog page) for next two field trips, to Asia and Africa, $5 needed to cover ticket costs
Sack lunch need for the Mon., Jan. 30th field trip to Asia, but no sack lunch needed for Tue., Feb. 7th one.
Agents are visiting their own Asian country and investigating it through the lens of six categories: A) Government, B) Community, C) Economics, D) Culture, E) History, and F) Global Connections.
As Bureau Chief and Field Commander (aka Moreh, teacher), I demonstrated the research and investigation skills agents will have to utilize. I did this by investigating the Philippine Islands with these young agents. So they have some experience and understanding into what they are looking for, yet it is not perfect and is in development.
To help in their research and investigation, each agent can assemble their required presentation in their personal website at students.weebly.com, and their username is their first name and last initial(s) and their password is the opposite - their first initial(s) and their last name (with some variation because of length of names an what they weebly website would allow.) We started exploring this communication and research tool this past January 9th week.
The agents' presentations are due before we see the Peking Drummers on January 30th, at UNM's Popejoy Hall at a 10:15 am performance. We will leave HQ (aka SSDS) around 9:15 am, and should be back for lunch at the usual 11:45 am, but just in case, we still ask that a brown bag/sack lunch be packed. Afterwards, we hope to continue our Asian Celebration with foods, snacks, treats, and other fun activities.
REQUEST for Field Supervisor (aka Parents): Please help us make January 30th our Asian Celebration Day by considering donations of Asian foods (does not have to be from their country) that we can enjoy after our Peking Drummers performance (field trip).
Also, we NEED chaperones (Field Drivers) for the trip, so please be get clearance from the SSDS/GBI HQ Front Office where you'll need both MVD clearance AND a background check, plus a copy of your current driver's license and insurance.
Here are two packets of Asian country demographics students can read to find more info on their country: 1) from the book Operation World (25 pgs), and 2) from the World Facts Book (14 pgs).(click on either book resource title)
Thank you!
